EL TEIDE
The third largest volcano in the world (12,000 feet) with breath-taking views of Las Canadas, casts the longest shadow in the world. Teide sits on the edge of a massive ancient crater, Las Canadas, which was recently declared a UN World Heritage site. |
TAGANANA
Only recently opened up with the construction of a tunnel and windy road down a precipitous mountinside to the old village. Take the road to its end a couple of miles further and you come to iconic black sand beaches where, in the Summer, thousands of locals descend at the weekends with food, music and surf boards! Great restaurants. |
PUERTO DE LA CRUZ BOTANICAL GARDENS
These fabulous gardens were built to help acclimatise plants from around the world being brought back to Exeter, England by the great Victorian plant collectors, from where they were ditributed throughout Europe. |
LAUREL FOREST
The Laurel forests of Anaga are unique and threatened habitat. Lord of the Rings could have been filmed in these majestic mountain ranges. The walk through these forest perhaps is the most romantic on the island. |
